This system comes with one SD4 ceiling speaker. The SD Speaker employs (4 smaller 6.5") very fast transient response aluminum-woofer drivers that are very powerful and stable. Working in unison these drivers produce clean powerful dynamic sound. When designing the SD the goal was to have the single most import feature at the forefront, good transient response ("dynamic contrast"). A transient is a sound of short duration, and good transient response can only be achieved if the speaker can deliver its output quickly and cleanly without smearing the original sound, and be completely soundless immediately after. Transients contain the essentials of sound reproduction they provide the sharp pop from a snare drum, the cutting edge of digital sound, the dynamics of the human voice. Larger 2-way cabinet loudspeaker systems offer relatively slow transient response, and the small high-frequency horn tends to beam a narrow, blaring sound at the listener—end result, muddy sound. By replacing larger speakers with four 6 or 8" drivers we increased the driver surface area while creating more punch and a tight, more focused low-end.
The Rolls RA170 Power Amplifier was designed especially for the installation contractor. The RA170 is a single rack-space, mono unit with a choice of an RCA or 1/4" unbalanced input. The 70 volt speaker outputs are provided via spring-loaded terminals - no transformer is required for speaker connection. The front panel includes a Power indicator LED, a Volume control and two Clip LEDs which indicate circuitry overload. The output circuitry is protected from momentary shorting and excessive load by a specially designed protective circuit.
The Control Unit is the main component of the CCS 1000 Digital Discussion System. It supplies DC power to all connected Discussion Devices and monitors and controls the discussion system. Touch‑button control allows for easy configuration and operation of the unit, while intuitive LED indicators give a clear indication of the system settings. Conveniently positioned connections at the rear of the unit enable peripheral equipment to be connected to the discussion system, such as audio equipment and Bosch HD Conference Domes. Intuitive web browser control allows basic and advanced system settings to be easily viewed and changed, as required.
Discussion Devices are connected in a daisy‑chain configuration to the Control Unit of a CCS 1000 Digital Discussion System. Their plug‑and‑play functionality allows them to be conveniently connected to and removed from the system as required. A power down or restart of the system is not necessary, which ensures for fast installation and reconfiguration times. Participants can take part in a discussion by speaking into the microphone and listening to proceedings through the built‑in loudspeaker or (optional) headphones.
