AKG |
| Description: |
AKG is specialized in and world-renown for state-of-the-art transducer technology. During the last decade transducers have been complemented by RF technology for Wireless Microphone Systems. Up to now more than 1,500 patents have been granted world-wide. The transducer is "the heart" of each of AKG's products. A dynamic transducer consists basically of housing, magnet, diaphragm, coil, wires and contacts. The coil, which is fixed to the diaphragm, moves in the air gap of a magnetic circuit, thus generating an electrical signal which reproduces the sound waves impacting on it. Dynamic microphones are easy to handle, robust, and need no phantom powering. Condenser microphones are highly sensitive, less robust, require an external phantom power unit. Condenser capsules employ an extremely thin diaphragm (3 to 6 µm ) which moves at a distance of 40 to 50 µm in front of a back plate. The capacitance between the diaphragm and the back plate is electrically charged and generates a high impedance electrical signal, which is delivered to a built-in amplifier whose output is a low impedance electrical signal. An extraordinary degree of precision and miniaturisation are required for their manufacture. |

Alesis |

Alesis manufactures a full line of professional audio and musical instrument products capitalizing on its strengths in digital, analog, semiconductor, and transducer technologies. Alesis products include keyboards, synthesizers, hard disk recorders, electronic drums, mixers, signal processors, effects units, amplifiers and speakers. Alesis delivers revolutionary product solutions to the music and audio production industries.Established in 1980, Alesis was founded on innovative semi-conductor chip technology and award winning industrial designs that allowed entry level musicians and recording artists to afford professional studio recording products that were never affordable before. With high “bang for the buck” value, Alesis introduced the world’s first professional 16 bit effects processor under $1000, the Midiverb. Following on the heels of the Midiverb, Alesis progressed into studio quality drum machines (HR-16 and SR-16) as well as synthesizers, studio monitors and mixing consoles. 1991 proved to be the ground-breaking year for Alesis, with the introduction of the ADAT Multi-Channel Digital Tape Recorder. Before ADAT, a studio would have to invest $50,000 in order to afford a multi-track digital recorder. With ADAT, the price tag came down to $4,000, essentially allowing every home and project studio to afford digital recording. This new technology allowed any artist or musician to record studio quality recordings. |
