Comparing Intercom Systems from Anchor and RTS on Pro Acoustics Tech Talk Episode 35

In this episode of Pro Acoustics Tech Talk, Nathan and Coltin compare wireless intercom systems from Anchor Audio and RTS.

Nathan: Hey everybody! Welcome to another edition of Pro Acoustics Tech Talk. I'm Nathan.

Coltin: And I'm Coltin.

Nathan: And we're here today to talk to you guys about some intercom systems, both wireless and wired, a couple of our favorite flavors, some of the manufacturers we can offer, and what are some solutions we can do to help assist with your project.

Coltin: Alright, welcome back guys. We're here today to talk to you about some intercom systems from some of our favorite flavors and spices, or manufacturers, right in front of us. So we have Anchor Audio and then we have RTS. And we want to break down the differences between each of them, what works best in some applications, what works better in others. So that's what we're doing today. Hopefully, you get some good, valuable information from this video. Nathan, take it away. Give me the lowdown on what Anchor has to offer, and RTS (Telex).

Nathan: Sure, you got it. So RTS (Telex) is a branch of Bosch Security Systems or Bosch Communications. So, been around a long time, industry standard in this kind of space. What I have in front of me is the RTS Base Station and also the wireless bodypack. Basically super high power, high quality, 2.4 gigahertz wireless intercom system. So you're able to transmit wirelessly as well as wired, with some of the other intercom solutions that you might need to have. So you can do wireless base stations, wired base stations, up to eight in full-duplex mode wirelessly with the base station. And then if you are in a pinch and you need to do a system entirely wirelessly out in the field, without the base station, you even do have the option to do a fully wireless solution with no base station.

Nathan: A base station, however, does give you a little bit longer range, also more features, also the ability to externally mount some antennas to increase your range even further. So you know, if you've got a theater performance venue, something like that, you can use these to extend your range as needed. But if you are in a completely wireless environment, say you're doing something along the lines of transportation, driving boats or working on construction equipment and that kind of thing, you have the ability to go completely wireless with that setup. Tour guides, things like that also. And then as we mentioned previously in a different video, you have the option to use some other of your favorite flavors of headsets. You know, maybe a noise-canceling Bose headset with a bodypack if you like, or a whole range of families of Bosch headsets available, a single dual-ear, big muff smaller muff, that kind of thing.

Coltin: Gotcha.

Nathan: So great product there. very, very high quality, been in the game for a long time. Moving on over to Anchor Audio to their ProLink system. ProLink is actually, instead of a 2.4 gigahertz digital wireless system, we're talking analog wireless over here, 900 megahertz band, so no issues with the FCC or anything like that at this point. And then basically, you've got a master belt pack and then also some remote bell packs that come in their packages. They've got their Pro540 and Pro570 packages depending on the number of users. You've also got options for single ear, dual-ear, that kind of thing as well. And the Anchor is great in that it's very simple to use, very basic. You know, you just got a couple of knobs, a couple of switches, and then you've got the option for A channel and a B channel, which can come in handy for things like football coaches, time to talk to defense, time to talk to the offense. Theaters, time to talk to lighting. Now it's time to talk to sound or whatever, you know, that kind of thing. So a great product. Anchor's got a good family of products available. And that really helps out to provide that kind of offering to the educational or the municipal type client that really benefits from the simplicity of Anchor products.

Nathan: So once again, these are just a couple of the offerings that we have available. We can build packages for you with something more sophisticated like the RTS line, or something more basic and simple and good bang for the buck, like the Anchor solution.
