Allen & Heath has launched two new installation mixers, the GR3 and GR4, designed to provide simple yet comprehensive control of programmed audio and announcements for multiple zones in bars, restaurants, stores and other leisure and retail environments. Highly configurable, the GR3 and GR4 are ideally suited to applications requiring multiple input sources and specific priority settings.

The GR4 is a 1U rack-mounting audio mixer, with standout features that include an easy access mic input on the front panel for announcements and paging, zonal auto-ducking for paging and emergencies, and optional wallplates for remote control. The innovative control layout allows system integrators to manage which controls are accessible for everyday use.

The GR4 has four mic inputs and four stereo inputs. Additionally, the GR4 has a 3.5 mm jack on the front to connect portable music sources, such as an iPod. This unit has two stereo zones, and an additional two mono zone outputs.

There is individual mix and selectable control of all inputs to zone 1 and 2, and multiple options for configuring mix outputs to zones 3 and 4 via internal jumpers. Additionally, gain and 2 band EQ is available on all mic inputs with a 2-band EQ available on zones 1 and 2 outputs. There is automatic ducking in primary and secondary mic mode, as well as emergency mic mode, and juke box mode. Ducking parameters, such as attenuation, hold and release can be adjusted by entering “programming mode” which also allows control over line input crossfade times and the priority line inputs hold and release times.

It is possible to connect up to two PL-14 wallplates or other analogue remote controllers, and paging and alarm contact inputs allow integration to third party paging stations and fire alarm systems.

• When audio sensed on MIC1 channel and/or PAGE contact closure is sensed then music is faded to pre-set level and MICs2-4 muted for the duration of the announcement
• MIC1 zone select LEDs flash slowly when in priority mic mode
• Perfect for controlling hierarchal microphone feeds such as simple paging announcements
• For use with 3rd party systems in emergency situations
• Mutes all inputs except MIC1 on alarm contact closure
• Provides a priority line input to the system for pre-recorded announcements or programmed material such as sports channels
