The FAP33T-W's 135° dispersion angle can reduce the number of loudspeakers necessary to achieve coverage in distributed systems with low ceilings. High-quality construction 3" coaxial cone type driver includes a 20 mm voice coil and a high-efficiency composite cone with polymer-coated cloth surround. A high sensitivity of 89.7dB average means less power may be required to achieve the desired SPL.
This loudspeaker is factory assembled in an optimally tuned and ported deep drawn enclosure and includes a specially designed 16-watt low saturation 70.7V / 100V transformer. A convenient front-mounted selector switch allows tap selection without the need to remove the loudspeaker from the ceiling. This switch also includes a transformer bypass setting for 6Ω direct coupled operation.

For many years, good enough was a speaker that just played dull and lifeless sound. To enhance the low-frequency response and provide deeper bass definition, the low-frequency tuning port was optimized. Additionally, the FAP33T is safety listed to both UL1480 and UL2043.
In-ceiling speakers are subjected to various climate and humidity environments. Competitive offerings use steel screws that can easily rust and fail due to humidity exposure. The FAP33T provides corrosion-free, no-worry operation, since it has no metal screws holding the doglegs in position.
Another innovation is the Safety First Mounting System (SFMS). This technology prevents mounting tab damage during installation, which other offerings suffer from. The damage is caused by over-torquing during the installation process. This excessive torque can damage the mounting tabs, which, over time, can increase the chance of mounting tab breakage and the speaker falling from the ceiling. The SFMS is the result of over 100 tested prototypes until the final design was approved. This patent-pending technology uses T-handles that are integrated into the front of the speaker baffle to tighten the mounting tabs in materials as thin as sheet metal and up to 3/4". Another important benefit is faster installation times. The SFMS also decreases installation time by up to 60%. Its mounting design is simple install steps without the need for any tools. A front-mounted 70V tap selector allows installers to quickly adjust and set the 70V power taps. A removable 4-pole euro-style connector allows for easy pre-wiring and daisy chaining of additional speakers and subwoofers. The result is fewer labor costs and better profits.
