On today's episode of Pro Acoustics Tech Talk, Nathan and Coltin are back with the SoundComm B40 communication headsets from Bose. To find out what makes these new noise-canceling headsets stand out from the rest, keep watching.

Nathan: Hey everybody, welcome back to another Pro Acoustics Tech Talk. I'm Nathan.

Coltin: And I'm Coltin.

Nathan: And we are back in 2020 from our Salado, Texas warehouse talking to you guys about something topical right about now, with NCAA bowl season and playoffs going on, and NFL playoffs happening. We're going to talk to you guys all about the new Bose SoundComm headsets, the B40 models. We'll give you a little bit more info about the product and how they can help you.

Coltin: Alright, we're back. And it feels good to be back. It's been a whole minute since we did one of these videos and today we are discussing the B40 headset from Bose. We want to get down into the nitty-gritty details of what this guy can offer and what it's place is in the marketplace. Really, just give you guys as much info as we can. So, Nathan, take it away. Tell me all about it. Tell me why I should buy it.

Nathan: Sure, absolutely. So the B40 headsets from Bose are super cool because they have Bose noise cancellation built-in, from their QC quiet comfort line and some other products over the years that they've developed that have really awesome noise cancellation. You flip the switch and it feels like you're alone. Things are much quieter, tunes out a lot of background noise. The engineers over at Bose have applied that same concept to their over-the-ear headset systems for one-way and two-way communications. We've got dual-ear models. We've also got single ear models. And this is from the SoundComm family where you've probably also seen the B30s that are used on Sundays on the NFL with the Bose name in front of your favorite or most hated coach's face.

Nathan: So, a fantastic product. The noise cancellation is super awesome because you're able to wear it and communicate even in spaces where there might be very high noise, like NFL stadiums. I went to a Cowboys game last year and it is rip-roaring loud in there. I don't know how those guys communicate other than by having a fantastic product from Bose. So with that, into the nitty-gritty with the SoundComm systems, the B40s here, like I mentioned, you have your pick of a dual-ear or single ear. You also have the option either for the standard four-pin XLR female, you know, designed to go into any industry-standard wireless or wired pack, or you also have an option for a five-pin XLR male. Basically the way it works is, you've got your headset, headset goes to your pack. The pack has some convenient options for either going onto a belt or also another option for sliding directly onto a bodypack from your favorite manufacturer.

Nathan: And then basically from there you've got your cable that comes out to your bodypack, you've got your spot where you pop in your dual AA batteries. Comes included, but you can also use your own favorite flavor from there. And then you've got your switch where you activate your noise canceling. The system does work without it. But as you can see, when I flipped that switch there, we've got a green light that comes on. Also, the green light does flash and have some other options to tell you, hey, you're running out of batteries, or that kind of thing, also.

Nathan: So very convenient, very comfortable and very impressive. I was telling Coltin before the show, I was testing these out with one of my other colleagues the other day and had some tunes cranked up, and we're checking these out with a bodypack actually from RTS, which is part of the BOSCH family, flipped on the noise cancellation and away the music went. I didn't even notice it anymore. We were just sitting there talking through our headsets. Popped it off and next thing you know, the music was back on. So yeah, very impressive product, available now.

Nathan: We can help put these together as packages for things like your football team, any other sport you may have. These are also great for theaters. Your stage managers, things like that. They can be incorporated with wired or wireless bodypacks as needed. basically let us know if you're sick and tired of your old headsets and want to move on to the Bose noise cancellation. We will need some info about what bodypack or system you are currently running, will you need the five-pin XLR male or the XLR female. We can go over all that together and basically help put together a package, design a system for you for what you need and get you fixed up. So, yeah, these are a fantastic product.
