Have you recently purchased new pro audio speakers and now you are trying to figure out what to do with them? From small to large, installed to portable, most live sound systems are going to need professional PA speaker stands or mounting brackets. If you get speakers from brands like JBL Professional, Bose Pro Audio, Yamaha Pro, or Electro-Voice, they often have speaker mounts that work specifically with their speakers. Otherwise, you may want to look into some brands like Gator, Ultimate Support, and On-Stage Stands.

There are a variety of different types of speaker mounts for pro audio speakers available today. We want to share with you some of the best PA speaker stands and mounts as well as how to mount your professional audio speakers using each type.

PA Speaker Stands & Pole Mounts

One of the most popular ways to mount professional audio speakers is with speaker stands, speaker tripods, or speaker pole mounts. These are especially popular for portable setups. Many pro audio speakers have holes on the bottom called a pole cup or a pole mount that work with tripod speaker stands or pole mounts. Sometimes your speaker will also have adapters designed for accommodating different sizes of pole cups. To install, take your speaker, pick it up, and simply set it on top of your stand. It’s that easy.

Some pro speaker stands have round bases and others have a tripod base. Most pa speaker tripod stands have an adjustable height speaker pole, some have cranks to raise and lower automatically, and others you just twist to loosen and raise up and down and then twist to tighten with safety pins to lock it in place.

There are a variety of different options when it comes to speaker stands and pole mounts. Many of our favorites are from Gator Rack Works, OnStage Stands, and Ultimate Support.

Speaker Wall Mount Brackets

If you're looking for more of a permanent solution, PA speaker wall mount brackets might be your best option. We have wall mount pole cut brackets that allow you to permanently mount your speaker. To install, mount the speaker wall bracket on the wall, making sure to mount on a stud, and set the speaker on the arm. From there, you will just need to adjust the angles to point your speaker where you would like for it to go.

A lot of speakers from companies like JBL Professional, Bose Pro Audio, Yamaha Pro, or Electro-Voice also have their own speaker wall mounts available from the manufacturer. We also have more standard wall mount speaker stands options from manufacturers like Gator Rack Works.

Suspended or Flying Speakers

Some professional audio speakers are designed to be suspended or “flown” as it’s also called. In those cases, you have your cabinet speaker and you use an eyebolt kit with flying speaker hardware to allow the eyebolt to screw right into the top of the speaker. From there you can use your chain, aircraft cable, or span sets to fly the speakers from the ceiling. Be sure to always consult your speaker’s manual to find out what type of bolts you need, weight rating, etc.

Suspended or Flying Speakers

We also want to make sure to note that you should never hang your speaker by the handles because most manufacturers don't rate their handles for the weight of the speaker. Always consult the manufacturer's manual for any guidelines about suspension, mounting, or hanging for your specific speaker.

Additionally, you should always talk to a professional, like a carpenter or engineer, anytime you are mounting speakers permanently to ensure that the speakers are mounted safely and securely.
