Dynacord VZX-8 8-Zone Audio Processor
The VZX-8 8-zone audio processor is the core of Dynacord's V-Series zone audio platform, providing advanced DSP functionality for commercial fixed installations. It manages background music, paging, messaging, and audio control across eight independently processed zones. With 20 processed input sources, including eight balanced mic/line inputs, four mono-summed RCA inputs, and eight internal digital sources, the VZX-8 provides flexible audio routing and zone management from a single 1U rackmount unit.
The processor is ideal for bars and restaurants, hospitality venues, retail outlets, fitness centers, houses of worship, educational institutions, corporate spaces, and warehouses.
The VZX-8 features full-matrix DSP with input EQ, compression, automatic gain control (AGC), ambient noise compensation (ANC), noise gates, VOX ducking, room EQ, loudspeaker EQ with FIR filtering, crossovers, output limiters, and delay. Its built-in Virtual Mixer includes an automatic microphone mixer (AMM) and selectable effects for live mixing across multiple zones. Integrated SONICUE loudspeaker databases for Electro-Voice, Dynacord, and supported third-party loudspeakers provide processing presets to help installers optimize system performance.
The intuitive VZX Web App enables system configuration, setup, and control from a device with a web browser. ZeroConf technology and the included VZX connection card provide access without requiring dedicated software downloads or a separate application. The processor includes eight internal digital media and message sources, configurable as eight mono or four stereo sources, with a built-in media player supporting MP3, WAV, AAC, and M3U playlists. A 32 GB microSD card is included for music, playlists, and automatic configuration backups, while 300 MB of internal storage accommodates chimes and prerecorded messages. Message playback can be triggered through compatible call stations, GPIO inputs, or the Openinterface API.
For system expansion, two RJ45 accessory ports support up to 16 compatible V-Series accessories, with a maximum of eight devices and a combined cable length of up to 1640 feet (500 m) per port. Optional Dynacord VCS-8 call stations provide zone paging, message triggering, and system control, while VWP wall panel controllers provide local source, level, zone, and media playback management. Four additional processed accessory audio inputs support call station audio, with up to four VCS-8 call stations able to page different zones simultaneously. Accessories connect directly to the processor in a daisy-chain configuration and require CAN termination at the end of each accessory line.
Eight balanced line outputs connect the processor to external amplification. Two RJ45 line-output connections carry the same eight output channels in parallel with the terminal-block outputs, providing streamlined AES72-1E connections to compatible Dynacord V-Series amplifiers, including the V600:2 and V600:4. These RJ45 audio outputs are not Ethernet network connections. Eight configurable GPIO connections, a READY/FAULT relay, and Ethernet control provide additional integration flexibility.
The VZX-8 also supports audio override through a dedicated 70V/100V emergency input or a line-level source connected to mic/line input 8. The override signal can be routed to all eight line outputs when triggered. The processor is not EN54-16 certified for life-safety voice evacuation systems. Compatible amplifiers, call stations, wall panel controllers, and installation cabling are sold separately.
