The Neumann KH 420 is a three-way active midfield studio monitor designed for professional recording, mixing, and mastering. It delivers highly accurate, neutral sound reproduction with high SPL capability, making it suitable for use as a main monitor in studio environments.

Description

Neumann KH 420 G 3-Way Active Midfield Studio Monitor

The Neumann KH 420 is a high-performance three-way tri-amplified studio monitor engineered for midfield and main monitoring applications in professional studios. It is designed for listening distances of approximately 1.5 to 3 meters and is optimized to provide precise, transparent audio reproduction across the full frequency spectrum.

Built with Neumann’s Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide, the KH 420 ensures controlled directivity, offering a wide horizontal listening area while minimizing vertical reflections from surfaces such as mixing consoles. This contributes to consistent imaging and reliable reference sound in varied acoustic environments.

The monitor features a tri-amplified design with dedicated amplification for each driver, enabling high headroom and low distortion performance, with maximum sound pressure levels exceeding 120 dB. Its extended low-frequency response reaches down into the sub-bass range, while maintaining tight transient response and clarity without audible port artifacts.

Additional design elements include acoustically optimized cabinet construction to reduce resonances, adjustable room EQ controls for tailoring the response to different environments, and optional digital input and delay capabilities via an expansion module. These features make the KH 420 suitable for demanding applications such as music production, broadcast, post-production, and immersive or multi-channel monitoring systems.

Features

  • Three-way active design with dedicated amplification for low, mid, and high frequencies
  • Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide for controlled directivity and consistent off-axis response
  • Extended frequency response with deep low-end reproduction and detailed high frequencies
  • High maximum SPL output suitable for midfield and main monitoring applications
  • Low distortion and high headroom due to tri-amplified architecture
  • Optimized for medium to large listening distances (midfield monitoring environments)
  • Acoustically optimized cabinet design to minimize resonance and coloration
  • Adjustable room EQ controls for tailoring response to different acoustic environments
  • Horizontal and vertical dispersion control for stable imaging across a wide listening area
  • Optional digital input and delay functionality via expansion module
  • Designed for professional applications including music production, mixing, mastering, broadcast, and post-production
