The Sony C-100 two-way condenser microphone is designed for studio vocal and critical instrument recording. Its dual-capsule design delivers a wide 20 Hz to 50 kHz frequency response, while switchable polar patterns, a low-cut filter, a -10 dB pad, and noise-elimination construction support clear, detailed recordings across different applications.

Description

SONY C-100 2-Way Condenser Microphone

The C-100 is a two-way condenser microphone compatible with High-Resolution Audio and suitable for vocal and critical instrument recording in the studio. Incorporating newly developed dual microphone capsules and a noise-elimination structure originally employed in the C-800G microphone, the C-100 delivers a broad frequency range of 20 Hz to 50 kHz and excellent reproduction of vocal and musical qualities. Its condenser elements provide selectable polar patterns, including omnidirectional, uni-directional (cardioid), and bi-directional (Figure-8), for various recording applications.

Designed for standard and high-resolution recording, the C-100 features a capsule developed to achieve an unattenuated 20 Hz-50 kHz frequency response and ample sensitivity. The result is excellent transient response that remains consistent across the wide frequency range, with clear, open lows and highs. A large, newly developed 25 mm diaphragm adds depth and substance to the sound, making the Sony C-100 a versatile choice for professional vocal and instrument recording setups.

The C-100 also features a low-cut filter to help reduce low-frequency noise and proximity effect, along with a -10 dB pad switch that provides additional headroom and helps minimize distortion caused by transient peaks. Its two-part metallic body construction, derived from the Sony C-800G microphone, helps prevent acoustic vibrations for low-noise, clear sound reproduction.

Features

  • Two-way microphone capsule structure realizes both a broad high range and a resonant mid-low range and gives great vocal presence
  • Two-part metallic body structure derived from the C-800G microphone helps prevent acoustic vibration, resulting in low noise and clear sound
  • Delivers exceptional clarity, depth, and transient response for critical vocal and instrument recordings
  • Low-cut filter switch helps eliminate low-frequency noise and proximity effect
  • Features switchable unidirectional, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns for various recording applications
  • A -10 dB pad switch provides added headroom and minimizes distortion caused by transient peaks
