Inside the Design
This commercial sound masking system is designed for offices, commercial spaces, and other environments requiring distributed sound masking across areas up to 5,000 square feet. This sound masking system can also support background music (BGM) when an external audio source or additional audio equipment is added. Eighteen Bose Professional FreeSpace FS2C 2.25" ceiling loudspeakers provide distributed overhead audio, while the Pure Resonance Audio SMG1 supplies customizable white, pink, or brown masking noise with adjustable tone control. This combination provides a complete distributed sound masking solution with the flexibility to support additional commercial audio applications.
At the core of this system is the Pure Resonance Audio DZMA8125 8-channel digital mixer amplifier, providing centralized amplification, DSP processing, audio routing, and zone management. This system supports both 70V and low-Z speaker configurations, allowing the amplifier and speakers to be configured to suit different installation requirements. The Pure Resonance Audio SMG1 sound masking noise generator provides the masking signal, while the Pure Resonance Audio DZC digital zone controller provides convenient local control of the audio zone.
An 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with PoE+ provides network connectivity and power for the digital zone controller. Three 6-packs of adjustable tile bridge are included to support secure ceiling installation of the loudspeakers. This system also includes a shielded Cat5e network cable and plenum-rated 14/2 speaker wire for installation.

The Bose Professional FreeSpace FS2C is a compact 2.25" in-ceiling loudspeaker designed for background music, paging, sound masking, and other distributed audio applications. Its low-profile design allows it to integrate into commercial ceiling installations while providing consistent overhead audio coverage. The loudspeakers support both 70V/100V distributed systems and low-Z applications, providing installation flexibility for different system configurations.
Pure Resonance Audio DZMA8125 8-Channel Digital Mixer Amplifier
The Pure Resonance Audio DZMA8125 is an 8-channel digital mixer amplifier that combines amplification, mixing, DSP processing, audio routing, and multi-zone control in a single unit. It provides 8 x 125W outputs at 4-16 ohms or 4 x 250W bridged outputs for 70V/100V applications. Built-in DSP provides audio processing and speaker management, while network-based control allows configuration and management of the system.
Pure Resonance Audio SMG1 Sound Masking Noise Generator
The Pure Resonance Audio SMG1 is a commercial sound masking noise generator designed to provide customizable background noise for environments where speech privacy, reduced distractions, and improved focus are important. The SMG1 produces white, pink, or brown noise with adjustable tone control, allowing the masking sound to be tailored to the environment. Its compact aluminum enclosure is well suited for commercial installations such as offices, medical facilities, and call centers.
The SMG1 features dual RCA and balanced 3.5 mm TRS outputs for flexible connection to compatible audio systems. Its plug-and-play design and included mounting bracket simplify installation, while the compact enclosure allows it to be installed discreetly within a commercial space.
Pure Resonance Audio DZC Digital Zone Controller
The Pure Resonance Audio DZC is a wall-mounted digital zone controller that provides local control of an individual audio zone. The controller features a high-resolution color display and rotary encoder with push-to-select functionality. It connects to the system over Cat5e or higher shielded network cabling and uses PoE for power, allowing audio zone control to be installed conveniently within the occupied space.
8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with PoE+
The included 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with PoE+ provides network connectivity and power for compatible system components. PoE allows the DZC digital zone controller to receive power through its network connection, reducing the need for a separate power supply at the controller location.
