On this week’s episode of Pro Acoustics Tech Talk, Nathan and Coltin are explaining all things classroom sound system related and featuring products from brands like Bose, Pure Resonance Audio and TeachLogic.

Hey everybody, thanks for tuning in to another edition of Pro Acoustics Tech Talk. I'm Nathan, I'm Coltin, and we're here today to talk to you guys all about classroom sound systems, how they work, what they can do for you, and one of our favorite flavors.

All right, Nathan, we're talking about classroom sound systems today. And we have our favorite flavor in front of us. So kinda break down this flavor for me. Tell me what it is and what it does and what it could do for our potential customers.

Yeah, you got it. You got it. So, classroom sound systems. A lot's changed since we were in school and maybe since even some of our older viewers were in school. A lot of studies have been done about kids these days. Retaining more audio information and retaining more knowledge essentially from class classrooms. If it's able to be reinforced in some form or fashion, if it's able to come out of a speaker, if it can be a little louder, if it can be, you know, more in their face to where they're more likely to absorb more content and to make sure that the kids that can't hear in the back, can hear everything that's going on.

Yeah, there's a lot of academic research behind the fact that this does help out being able to reinforce a teacher's voice. Also, not to mention, most classrooms these days have projectors. They've got smart boards, they got all that. But they don't always have sound. So they gotta make sure that those presentations and everything are louder. The TVs on the big audio cart with the speakers cranked up with the laser disc down below are just not doing it anymore, nope. Nope. So, our classroom options here range everywhere from more permanent installed systems. We also have small portable systems. We've got our, our Bose S1 classroom package that we've shown you guys that can plug in microphones to that system. It can also just be connected to your smart board, your computer, your laptop, your source of information to make sure and reinforce your presentations or your voice.

Or you can go with our favorite solution, which is currently our SD4 two by two speaker array, paired with our MA30BT mixer amplifier. Yep. And then paired with the TeachLogic Voice Link. This is an infrared wireless microphone. What does infrared mean? So, we've taught you guys a lot about RF signal, whether it be digital, whether it be analog, in some of our previous videos or videos to come. But infrared wireless means that basically the transceiver, the microphone, transmits to this infrared dome, which then connects back to the receiver here, which then outputs into our mixer amp and drives the speakers. So it seems complicated, very basic. We include all the cabling that you need. Basically, this dome goes over the teacher's head towards the front of the classroom.

Not on her head. Oh, sorry. Yeah. Thanks for clarifying. This attaches to your two by two ceiling. Yes. So this is up in the ceiling. And then basically this dome receives the signal from this microphone that I'm wearing here. This is what's called their Sapphire Pendant Microphone - worn around the neck on a lanyard. Very classy. Simple to wear. Communicates audio signal back here that then hits this box, which feeds the mixer amp, out it goes from the speakers. Infrared actually only broadcast line of sight, meaning there has to be direct transmission from here to there. It does not spill outside of the walls. Gotcha. That's good news for a classroom because if you've got a wing of a school that needs 30 microphones, whether you're doing digital or whether you're doing analog wireless, via RF, via radio frequency, you're going to have a bad time because you're going to have to deal with a lot of frequencies fighting.

Infrared means, Mrs. Jones, her voice stays inside of Mrs. Jones’s classroom, and Mr. Smith next door, same thing. So it stays within that zone. Yup. And so, feedback suppression built into this unit to help cut down on squeaks and squawks and all that kinda good stuff while also sounding really nice and really natural and clear Feeds into the mixer ramp., so you have a separate volume for adjusting the level of the microphone itself. You also still keep your Bluetooth, you still keep your SD card, your USB input, you still also have your RCA inputs. That's where we can plug in your smart board, your computer, wherever you need transmission, hook it up to your projector. Pardon me. Ha. And then basically output to your speaker, and then fill your classroom with great sounding sound.

One SD4 for a 10, 12-foot ceiling will do about a 25 by 25-foot classroom, which is about the size of an average classroom. Or if we need to upgrade, we can do a bigger mixer amplifier and actually add more speakers for like the music class or any places that might be a little bit larger. So, this whole system sounds great, works really well. We have rolled out a number of these throughout classrooms across the country. Reach out to us to talk more about that. We do offer educational pricing if you are an educator or in the technology sector and need to talk a little bit more about that. If you're on a tight budget, we can also use our VCA8 two by two speaker array, same coverage, same basic functionality, just not quite as deep a base. Just reach out to us. We can talk to you a little bit more about that and for more on the difference between the SD4 and the VCA8, check out episode one.

Yeah, something like that. Yeah. We've been doing it a while now. We have separate videos of the SD4 the whole MA series from us. We have videos going into deep detail on both of these guys. So, to give you really good perspective on both of these, how they're going to gel together, you know, check those videos out. Links are going to be below for those guys too. So, yeah, again, if you have any questions, you know, regarding how this works, how it's going to benefit you so you don't have to lose your voice every single day or at the end of the year, you know, you're looking forward to summer and you know, most teachers, their voices are lost. So, we want to make sure you keep your voice year around and more importantly, make your students, you know, retain more information. Overall that's what it's all about.

So, we really believe in this product and we're really pushing it. So definitely get your hands on one. Again, you can reach out to us directly as well. I'm at [email protected].
