In this episode of Pro Acoustics Tech Talk, Nathan brings in Aaron from Yamaha Pro Audio to discuss the Yamaha STAGEPAS 1K Portable PA System. Keep watching to learn more about the Yamaha Stagepas 1K portable system, Stagepas 1K accessories, and Stagepas app.

Nathan: Hey everybody. Nathan from Pro Acoustics here at our Salado, Texas warehouse with Aaron from Yamaha Professional Audio. Thanks for coming by on this cold snowy day. He's gonna show us a little bit about the Yamaha Stagepas 1K.

Nathan: All right, Aaron, tell me what we got here. Tell me a little bit about the Stagepas 1K. Exciting new product.

Aaron: Yeah, what we have here is the latest in our portable PA family from Yamaha. Basically, it's the implementation of all the technology that we've developed over 50 plus years in amplification, speakers, digital signal processing, and of course digital mixers. We have 1000W of power here powering a 12" subwoofer with an array on top. The array has ten 1.5" drivers in it, 810W to the sub and 190W to the array. One of the benefits of having an array is actually the ability to equally cover front to rear and side to side. The dispersion on this one is 30 degrees by 170 degrees. Think about that. Yeah, it's very wide. At 119 dB SPL max, you can run two of them together, if you would like to. You can run them in stereo or you can run them in dual mono.

Aaron: It's very easy to use, very easy to set up. You have four input channels with five input options. Basically, how we achieve that is the first three channels are micro line-level XLR or 1/4" jacks. Channel four is a stereo channel with 1/4" jacks on the back. And on the top, there's a 1/8" jack for computers or other content. There's also a Bluetooth option on channel four that will recall up to 10 different devices. On the channel set up and operating the channels, very easy too. It's three buttons. The first button, of course, is the level. The second button is a multi-band equalizer. Basically what this enables you to do is left to right would be adjusting for speech, content for musical performance, and all the way to the right would be more a low end for kind of a club DJ type of an application.

Aaron: Every channel has its own reverb on it. It's based on the Yamaha SBX reverb algorithms. On the master section, you have a level control, of course, and then we have what's called the mode. The mode is a multi-band compressor. Again, this enables the user to quickly dial in speech, music, or a DJ type of content. There's also a reverb option on the master output. Again, it's the SPX based reverb, four different settings and you can bypass it either on the device itself or you can do it via foot controller. Finally, there is Bluetooth control on the functions of the outputs and the inputs and levels, et cetera, with a free downloadable app at Yamaha.com. It's very lightweight. It comes in just under 50 pounds.

Nathan: Yeah, I can transport that. No problem. Very cool.

Aaron: Very easy to use. It comes with a nice heavy canvas bag that slips over the subwoofer. There are pockets for the spacers and for the array. There's also an additional dolly option if somebody would like to put this on top of a dolly.

Nathan: Cool. Cool. And people have asked me about this already, how easy is it to set up? No problem. Don't have to use all the spacers. If you've got smaller venues where you need to set it up or if you need just a little bit taller, a little bit more height, voila! Just takes a second, and then right back into the carrying bag. So definitely an exciting product, one we've been waiting for, for a while. If we can help out with designing any systems for you guys, if you like any of these packages, we have a few of them up on our website. Definitely give us a buzz.
