The California Southern Marin Fire Protection District

Chris Tubbs serves as the Chief for both the Southern Marin Fire Protection District and the Mill Valley Fire Department. Recently, the Southern Marin Fire Protection District moved into a new building in order to bring their administration and prevention staff under one roof. As a part of this move, they conducted several major upgrades, including updating the audio and recording system to meet their needs in this new space.

He found Pro Acoustics through an internet search and reached out. Chris was promptly connected to Jeff, a sales engineer, to explain their objectives for the new space. Chris will tell you that he is not an audio expert, so he welcomed the options that Jeff expertly provided. Jeff was able to put together the perfect audio system that would meet all the needs of the Southern Marin Fire Protection District.

The sound system that Jeff designed for Chris consists of a Bosch discussion system, Bose DesignMax loudspeakers, Pure Resonance Audio rackmount mixer amplifierMIPRO handheld wireless microphones, and Listen Technologies assistive listening package

About the Equipment

Known for world-class conference system solutions, the Bosch CCS 1000 digital discussion system is easy to set up, easy to use, and designed to ensure highly productive meetings. Jeff provided Chris with 14 discussion devices with long gooseneck microphones. The system delivers excellent speech intelligibility thanks to advanced digital audio processing and superior microphone and loudspeaker performance. Touch‑button control allows for easy configuration and operation. Participants can take part in a discussion by speaking into the microphone and listening to proceedings through the built‑in loudspeaker.

Bose DesignMax DM6SE 6.5" surface mount loudspeakers deliver instantly impressive sound with no EQ or DSP required. They feature hidden U-brackets that hold the loudspeaker closer to the wall providing a much cleaner appearance. From concept and design to installation and operation, Bose Professional DesignMax loudspeakers leave users more than satisfied with everything they hear and see.

Jeff chose to pair the Bose DesignMax speakers with a Pure Resonance Audio mixer amp. Featuring a slim and lightweight space-saving design, the Pure Resonance Audio RMA120BT 5-channel 4 Ohm/70V commercial rack mount mixer amplifier provides quick and easy Bluetooth connection and 120W of high-performance power. With the forced air-cooling fan and emergency priority capabilities, this mixer amplifier perfectly accommodates commercial applications.

The MIPRO Digital Diversity ACT-2400 Series single-channel wireless handheld microphone system addresses the industry's 2.4 GHz issues of range, signal stability, and channel density by operating in the 2.4GHz-ISM band and providing strong RF signal stability and extended range. The microphones utilize dual-tuner true digital diversity reception, and deliver 12 compatible channel operations without signal dropout. The rechargeable handheld microphone transmitter delivers 10 hours of use on a 4-hour charge.

To complete this audio system Jeff added a Listen Technologies LP-4VP-072-01 assisted listening DSP package. Included are four bodypack receivers and earbuds, a stationary transmitter with 90-degree helical antenna, and a signage kit for full ADA compliance. Easy to install, manage and use this assistive listening system delivers reliable clear sound quality.

In regards to working with Jeff, Chris says, “I was impressed with his responsiveness, interest in our project, and the information he quickly provided that allowed us to make a decision that worked for our team. I have reached out to him on several occasions since and he is quick to respond, and always exceedingly helpful,” says Chris.

The new system has been installed and tested multiple times always performing as expected. Chris says, “the equipment is clearly high quality. Nothing about any element of the system seems cheap. Our installers also complimented us on the choice and assured us that we would remain satisfied.”

It was a pleasure to work with Chris and provide this new audio system for the Southern Marin Fire Protection District. We know this system will consistently meet their needs as they continue to serve the Bay Area.
