Crest Audio PZS-8250 Powered Zone Matrix Mixer (Discontinued)

The Crest Audio® PZS™-8250 powered zone matrix mixer provides installers and contractors an all-in-one solution for configuring and operating zoned audio systems for houses of worship, schools, retail spaces, restaurants, lounges or meeting and conference spaces. The PZS-8250 combines an eight input by eight output mixing matrix with digital signal processing, four channels of powerful and efficient Class D power and a convenient wireless web interface for configuring and controlling zoned audio systems, all in a sleek 2U chassis. Any combination of inputs can be routed to any of the outputs, and level and mute controls are associated with each of the matrix crosspoints.

The PZS-8250 can be configured and controlled from the intuitive front panel interface or by using a web interface hosted from the PZS-8250 via its internal WiFi radio. The internal WiFi radio can also be set as an “access point” so that a computer, tablet or mobile phone can connect directly to the PZS-8250 without the need for an external wireless router. The expanded wireless control capabilities of the PZS-8250 replace traditional “wall controls” by extending control functions for the configured audio zones to mobile devices without a dedicated “app”. Password control of system configuration and operation functions is provided to limit access to authorized users. Wired serial control can also be configured via the rear panel RS-485 connector.

Each of the PZS-8250 power amplifier Class D channels delivers 250 watts, and can be configured individually as 4Ω low-impedance, 25V, 70V or 100V constant voltage outputs. This allows a broad range of loudspeaker configurations to support any medium to small installation. The PZS-8250 also provides a convenient RJ45 connector to link outputs 5 – 8 to the Crest Audio IPA™-4250 four-channel power amplifier to easily expand the number of amplified channels.

The PZS-8250 provides a full range of digital signal processing, including signal chains for each input and output. Input signal processing includes digitally controlled preamp gain control, high-pass filters with bypass control, low and high shelf and two bands of sweepable EQ per channel, compressor/limiters, input mix level and full paging ducker functionality with prioritized inputs, external hardware control capability, adjustable depth control and an integral audio gate. Output signal processing includes variable high-pass filters, five bands of parametric EQ, compressor/limiters, output level control and a pink noise generator for setup and testing.
