The C-80 is a unidirectional condenser microphone suitable for vocal and voice recording. Inheriting the microphone capsule used in the C-100 and using the same diaphragm material as the C-800G, the Sony C-80 carries forward the sound characteristics of these predecessors. Its dual diaphragm configuration suppresses changes in sound characteristics with distance, reducing the proximity effect and enabling stable recording and distribution.
A powerful and rich mid-low frequency range provides vocals and voice recordings with a core sound and presence. The two-part metallic body structure, succeeded from the C-800G and C-100 microphones, helps prevent acoustic vibration, resulting in low noise and clear sound.
The low-cut filter switch helps eliminate low-frequency noise and the proximity effect. A -10 dB pad switch provides added headroom and minimizes distortion caused by transient peaks, making the C-80 well suited to detailed vocal and voice recording applications.
