Stadium Speakers FAQ's

What are stadium speakers? How are they different from normal Paging Horns?

Stadium speakers are high-output loudspeakers designed to deliver clear, intelligible audio across large indoor and outdoor venues. They provide greater output, controlled sound dispersion, and longer throw distances than conventional commercial speakers, helping announcements, music, and emergency messages remain clear throughout seating areas, athletic fields, and spectator zones.

Unlike basic paging horns, which are primarily designed for speech and simple announcements, stadium speakers often provide wider frequency response and better overall sound quality for both voice and music. Paging horns are a practical choice when maximum vocal clarity and efficiency are the main priorities, while full-range stadium speakers are better suited for venues that also need music, ceremonies, sporting events, and higher-quality program audio.

What is the difference between stadium speakers and regular outdoor speakers?

While both are designed to withstand the elements, stadium speakers are engineered for much higher sound pressure levels (SPL), greater projection distances, and controlled coverage patterns. Outdoor patio or landscape speakers are intended for close listening, whereas stadium speakers are designed to cover hundreds or even thousands of spectators with clear, consistent sound.

Are stadium speakers weatherproof?

Most stadium speakers are built specifically for permanent outdoor installation. Many feature weather-resistant or weatherproof enclosures, UV-resistant finishes, corrosion-resistant hardware, sealed connection points, and durable mounting brackets designed to withstand rain, snow, humidity, and prolonged sun exposure. Always verify the environmental rating of the specific model for your installation.

How many stadium speakers do I need?

The number of speakers depends on the size of the venue, seating capacity, mounting height, desired sound levels, and the coverage pattern of each loudspeaker. Proper system design focuses on providing even coverage throughout the venue rather than simply maximizing volume. Our sales engineers can help determine the ideal quantity, placement, and aiming angles for your application.

Where should stadium speakers be mounted?

Stadium speakers are commonly mounted on light poles, press boxes, scoreboards, grandstands, roofs, or dedicated speaker towers. Proper mounting height and aiming are critical for achieving even coverage, minimizing sound spill outside the venue, and maximizing speech intelligibility.
