Many professional AV systems now require both HDMI in/out and HD surround sound decoding for use in everything from big installations with multiple amps driving line array systems to small boardrooms and private theatres with active monitor systems, and the Denon Professional DN-500AV fits that bill.

Besides a full complement of standard analog and digital inputs on the rear panel, audio sources can additionally be accessed via the front panel USB port including thumb drives, external hard disc drives or portable media devices. And expanding the range of accessible content further, music and even pictures can be accessed from network appliances via DLNA streaming devices such as a PC or NAS drive. The DN-500AV also allows local connections to its rear panel from Blu-ray or DVD players via HDMI, composite, or component cables.

An HDMI 1.4a compliant device, the DN-500AV is completely up-to-date and ready to handle today’s latest audio technologies and surround sound formats including Dolby Pro Logic IIz, Dobly True HD, and DTS HD Master Audio and can also utilize HDMI’s ARC (audio return channel) feature, ideal for smaller applications like screening rooms and small theatres. In addition to absolute flexibility of video and audio sources through the five rear HDMI inputs and up-scaling component input and composite inputs is a front-panel HDMI connection for convenience of quickly hooking up a laptop or camera -- ideal for the boardroom, conference center, or lecture theatre. Professional 7.1 separated XLR outputs will guarantee high-quality signal connection to the amplifiers, while a balanced XLR stereo input allows for expansion where needed.

Ethernet connectivity on the rear affords a stable wired connection to a network server of content or the option to connect to an IP-based remote control system. Additionally, the DN-500AV can be controlled via RS-232c control protocol, the included IR remote, or even by iPadTM, iPhoneTM, or iPodTM utilizing the Denon control App (available in the AppStoreSM).
