Neumann TLM 49 Cardioid Studio Microphone
The TLM 49 is a large-diaphragm cardioid studio microphone that delivers the legendary vintage sound of Neumann's post-war classics with the reliability of modern technology. Inspired by the iconic M 49 and U 47 microphones, it features the same K 47 capsule and large, acoustically open head grille, providing smooth, silky vocals and exceptional tonal clarity for acoustic instruments. Its classic nickel finish and timeless design make it as visually striking as it is sonically elegant.
Unlike its tube-powered predecessors, the TLM 49 uses a transformerless solid-state circuit, engineered to reproduce the warmth and dynamic behavior of vintage tube microphones. The microphone intentionally produces gentle saturation at high sound pressure levels, offering a natural, musical response while maintaining very low self-noise of just 12 dB-A. This makes it ideal for professional vocal recordings without the maintenance or fragility of traditional tube mics.
Optimized for vocals, the TLM 49's fixed cardioid pattern captures clear bass, a rich midrange, and a gentle presence boost above 2 kHz. It also performs beautifully with a variety of instruments, such as acoustic guitar and upright bass, providing versatility in any studio environment. The TLM 49 comes complete with an EA 3 elastic suspension and original carton, ready to deliver the legendary Neumann sound with modern convenience.
