Pro Acoustics Builds Custom Yamaha Sound System for Weight Room in Wisconsin K12 Public School

As the IT Director for the Wisconsin Luck School District for the last 18 years, Aaron Arjes was tasked with purchasing a new weight room sound system for the k12 public school that would make “the students go WOW!”
After an unsuccessful search for sound equipment for their school weight room on Google, he reached out to Pro Acoustics because they mentioned giving first priority to schools, government, and businesses. He was connected with sales engineer, Mark, who Aaron describes as “easy to talk to” as he explained the specific needs of his school weight room. The problem was that students were using small portable Bluetooth music boxes that really were not that great - definitely not the “Wow” factor that Aaron was looking for. He also needed the school’s speaker system to be a two-zone system because the weight room is split into two rooms and both rooms need to have the option of music or no music.
Once Mark understood exactly what Aaron was looking for, he designed a custom Yamaha sound system that would work best for the specific needs of the students and coaches in the weight room. The school audio system he designed included Yamaha speakers, subwoofer, and amplifier as well as a Hosa Bluetooth transmitter/receiver, ART power sequencer, and Rolls mixer.
He chose the Yamaha CBR12 12" passive loudspeakers for the weight room’s speakers because they feature a highly responsive woofer and a precise 2" compression driver, ensuring consistent high-definition sound with minimal distortion even at high output levels. The CBR12’s compact, durable, and lightweight plastic cabinet features newly designed, ergonomic handles that greatly minimize system transport and setup.
Mark wanted to be sure and include subwoofers to really bring that “WOW factor” to the school’s weight room speaker system Aaron was wanting. The Yamaha DXS18 18" powered subwoofer is a compact, high-output, powered subwoofer that features intelligent DSP technologies that enhance the versatility in its performance. Its wooden cabinet is also durable and acoustically optimized for maximum sound quality.
The versatile Yamaha PX5 stereo power amplifier features an LCD display for quick and easy system setup and is designed to be user-friendly for any experience level.
Because of stocking issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, there were some issues finding a Bluetooth that was available and would work with the Yamaha audio system. Everything in that category was back-ordered, but Mark pulled it off and found a solution. He added wireless capabilities to the system using the Hosa IBT-402 Drive Bluetooth audio interface transmitter/receiver.
Helping the audio equipment sound and work better and while lasting longer, the ART PS8-II professional power sequencer is a full-featured power conditioner, fast-acting breaker, EMI and RFI filter, as well as a surge and spike protector.
Mark completed the audio system with the Rolls RM68 Zone Wolf 6 Channel rack mount zoning mixer. It is designed to mix up to three microphones with three stereo sources and send them in any combination to two separate zones. Its versatile inputs and outputs as well as commercial-grade design make it perfect for providing control of the 2 audio zones needed for the school’s weight room.
Aaron was happy to see several Yamaha products in the sound system and says “I have been a fan of Yamaha equipment since I was a teenager purchasing Yamaha amps on layaway, and saving my money to get my system. Yamaha amps still are as great today then they were 25 years ago.”

Since installing the school’s new sound system in their weight room, “the kids, and coaches find the new system unbelievable in sound quality, and easy to use.” Aaron rates the equipment as a solid 10. The only problem that Aaron experienced was that the cabinet he purchased did not come with near enough screws to mount the sound equipment, but says the problem was solved because “as soon as Mark knew of this issue he quickly sent me more.”
It was a pleasure helping Aaron and the Luck School District find the best Yamaha speaker system for their school weight room. We hope the students and coaches continue to enjoy its “Wow!”
